3. SAP Generation Shift SAP has come up with 1 st version R/2 in 1970’s which is 2 tier architecture which consists of D/B layer(any D/B) and presentation layer. SAP then introduced R/3 in 1992 which is 3 tier architecture which consists of D/B layer(any D/B), application layer and presentation layer. SAP GUI is also introduced as a user interface. IDOC’s and ALE are introduced to make better integration with other systems. Then in 2004 ECC was launched it is also a 3 tier architecture, where ECC is a center core component integrating with CRM, SCM, APO, SRM products. Here ABAP technology, web interface NWBC has been improved. In the year 2015 SAP moved from ECC to S/4 HANA. In S/4 HANA it has it’s own DB, which is HANA DB also called in memory DB and this product can only work with HANA DB. VW SAP Consultant 3

4. ECC & S/4 HANA ECC is just an operations engine. For reporting ECC will direct us to BW system For analytics ECC will direct us to BI system For advanced planning ECC will direct us to APO ECC is an OLTP  online transaction processing BI/BW is an OLAP  online analytical processing S/4 HANA is a combination of OLTP+OLAP+Planning.
