Past Simple Tense vs Present Perfect.
Present perfect. It connects the past with the present 1. I have finished my homework, so I can watch TV now. 2. She has already eaten breakfast, so let's go. 3. They have arrived, and the party can start. 4. We have studied for three hours, and now we need a break. 5. He has graduated, and now he's looking for a job.
Past Simple No relation with present/began and ended in the past . I diagnosed a patient yesterday. She ate breakfast. We studied for three hours. He graduated from the University.
Present perfect. (When Something is still true) I have lost a bag. I have given a pen to him. I have called him to come. Past Simple. ( began and ended in past) 1. I lost my bag. 2. I gave a pen to him. 3. I called him to come.
Present perfect . Action in past/focus on now I have written my assignment. I have bought my own chair . Past simple Action in past/focus on past I wrote my assignment. I bought my own chair.
Present perfect.(Indefinte time ) We have completed our syllabus. We have finished writing our assignment . Present Simple(definite time ) We completed our syllabus two days before exam. I graduated from the university in 2022.
Present perfect vs past simple( Meaning different) 1. My neighbour has gone to America twice.(He is alive, and may go for third time. 2. My neighbour went to America twice( now he is dead). Present perfect( unfinshed time) I have lived in Hyderbad for 4 years(I am still living there). Past simple finshed time I lived in Hyderabd from 2019 to 2022
The sentence:"I have not had any lunch today Implies : You haven't eaten lunch yet. The speaker is still in the same day. The sentence: "I did not have lunch today implies : The opportunity for lunch has passed. You did not eat lunch at the usual time.
