this document is about assessment tevhniques in class room.Assessment in the classroom is an essential tool for teachers to measure student learning and understanding. It involves the process of gathering, interpreting, and using information to determine student progress towards achieving learning goals. Assessment can be classified into two main categories: formative and summative.
Formative assessment is an ongoing process that takes place during instruction, aimed at improving student learning. It includes quizzes, class discussions, formative writing assignments, and self-assessment. Formative assessment helps teachers to:
- Identify areas where students need additional support
- Adjust instruction to meet student needs
- Encourage student reflection and self-directed learning
Summative assessment, on the other hand, occurs at the end of a lesson, unit, or term, and evaluates student learning at a particular point in time. Examples include unit tests, final exams, and research papers. Summative assessment helps teachers to:
- Evaluate student mastery of learning goals
- Determine student grades
- Identify areas for curriculum improvement
Effective classroom assessment should be:
- Clear and transparent
- Fair and unbiased
- Valid and reliable
- Ongoing and continuous
- Used to inform instruction and improve student learning
By implementing a balanced assessment approach, teachers can promote student learning, motivation, and success, while also meeting the requirements of accountability and standards-based education.Assessment in the classroom is an essential tool for teachers to measure student learning and understanding. Purpose of Assessment Tell us what the student needs to learn. Teachers identify the nature of the pupil’s learning difficulties and use this information to plan interventions to address the issues discovered. Diagnostic Assessment Formative Assessment Is a part of everyday teaching and learning process to: Tell us how well the student is doing as work processes. Summative Assessment Tells us how well a student did at the end of a unit/task.
Why is it important to assess? To find out what the students know (knowledge) To find out what the students can do, and how well they can do it (skill, Performance). To find out how students go about the task of doing their work (process). To find out how students feel about their work (motivation ,effort)
What are assessment techniques? Classroom assessment techniques CATs are a set of specific activities that instructors can use to quickly gauge students comprehension.
Self Assessment Self-assessment provides students with an opportunity to self-evaluate, or make judgments about their learning process and products of learning, based on criteria that they have agreed on with their instructor.
