INTRODUCTION Experimental learning (ELP),is a programme that main aim is to promoting skill and knowledge in the form of practical work or hand to hand experience. Its important is to develop the enterprineurship management capabilities and inculcate values. In this methods the students are learning the experience of the people which are directly involved in forest sector, they are gaining knowledge from them ,with the help of question answer methods. The students are able to know the situation , constraints, objective and demands of the farmers, they will give recommendation to fix the poblems by their present knowledge or concern with higher authorities. Due to this they indirectly help in economic development of farmers , due plantinon the environmental , sustainable, aesthetic value among the people is increase. Its helps in reduction of failure of the crops, the demands of trees by the people, determine the pricing value of crops. A market research survey questionnaire is prepared and three response of farmers is carried out at , Gurujanga ( khordha sadar ) and Baniatangi ( Bajapur ) Of khurdha district to analyse the demand ,no of seedlings, purpose , pricing, quality of planting material, constraints from the customer, for their purpose .
RESPONSE NO- 01 Name of the farmer- Panchanan Pradhan Address- Gurujanga, khorda,Pin no -752057 Phone no – 8250774184 No of seedlings required- 250-350 Area to be planted- 1.5 acre Choice of tress species- Avenue plantation- Sunajhari ( Acacia auriculiformis ), Neem ( Azadirachta indica ) Medicinal plants- Tulsi ( Ocium tenuiflorum ), Bael ( Agele marmelos ) Purpose of planting- Timber, paper and pulp, fuelwood, gum , medicinal purpose, fruits Stage at which planting material required- Tulsi ( 6-7 weeks after germination),others(6-10 months,15-23 cm height) Price for which the farmers ready to pay – Rs . 11-12( sunajhari, neem ),Rs.12- 15(bale), Rs 8. ( Tulsi ) Constraints- less idea about the modern way of farming, unavailablity of good quality planting materials, shortage of water for irrigation (improper irrigation system),unable to control the disease and pest
RESPONSE NO-02 Name of the farmer- Kabita behera Address- Gurujanga, khorda,Pin no -752057 Phone no – 7682859910 No of seedlings required- 150-200 Area to be planted- 1 acre Choice of tress species- Medicinal plants- Tulsi ( Ocium tenuiflorum ), Aonla ( Phyllanthus emblica ), Bisalyakarani ( Tridex procumbens ), Bael ( Agele marmelos ) Purpose of planting- Bark , fruit, leaf having medicinal property, furniture , agriculture implements markings Stage at which planting material required- Tulsi (6-7 weeks), Aonla , bael (6-12 months)and 12-18 cm long, Bisalyakarani (2-3months) Price for which the farmers ready to pay – Rs . 5-8( Tulsi ),Rs.12- 15(bale, Aonla ), Rs - 15 – 20( Bisalyakarani ) Constraints- , unavailablity of good quality planting materials, shortage of water for irrigation (improper irrigation system),unable to control the disease and pest, more transportation cost
RESPONSE NO -03 Name of the farmer- Bipul kumar Behera Address- Baniatangi,Bajapur,752050 Phone no – 6200249036 No of seedlings required- 250-300 Area to be planted- 1.5 acre Choice of tress species- Avenue plantation- Sunajhari ( Acacia auriculiformis ), Neem ( Azadirachta indica ), Gambhari ( Gemelina arborea ) Areca palm ( Dypsis lutescens ), Jackfruit ( Artocarpous hetrophyllus ) Purpose of planting- Timber, paper and pulp, fuelwood, gum , furniture making, medicinal purpose, fruits Stage at which planting material required-6-12 months,20-25 cm length Price for which the farmers ready to pay – Rs . 11-12( sunajhari, neem , Gambhari ),Rs15( Jackfruit, areca palm) Constraints- less idea about the modern way of farming, unavailablity of good quality planting materials, shortage of water for irrigation (improper irrigation system),unable to control the disease and pest,More competition with big farmer’s
CONCLUSION From this analysis of data ,I concluded that,There is not adequate amount of seedlings are present, for the fulfillment of farmers needs. Good quality seedlings are required for afforestation and reforestation in area , which creates a positive environment impacts, and also help in production of desire products for the farmers. The trees having aestically , economically, environmentally much more important. CONSTRAINTS Inferior quality of seedlings are available in market, with high cost Due to lack of education, farmers are unable to implement or practice the modern farming methods Shortage of water ,poor irrigation system reduce the production efficiency of trees Unable to control the insect pest and disease in tree High transportation cost ,and not more buyers , due to this they’re not getting real price of their products. RECOMONDATION Following steps are taken to overcome the constraints Use of fast growing, short rotation species ,such as.( Gambhari,Sunajhari etc.) Planting of trees on the basis of soil present in that area Drought resistance and the species are choosen which are grown in diverse soil types.( such as karanja,Neem etc…) Plantation are done on the basis of agroforestry models, which approaches a suitable farming systems They should must buy the products from the government nurseries,it will provide superior quality seedlings. They should must involved in extension education programmes, from that they knows ideas about, better irrigation practices, pest and disease control methods
