Resident Assistants RAs are placed throughout our communities. RAs are full-time TAMU-CC students serving in a peer mentor capacity with the goal of enhancing residential student success. When in doubt, ask an RA! RAs are placed within the communities to help students adjust to college life! RAs can help: Build connections and friendships. Refer students to campus resources.. Host community events. Answer housing questions

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT Most first-year undergraduate students are required to live on campus for at least two semesters on the Island at Miramar! Exemptions You graduated from high school more than twelve months before starting classes at the University. You will be aged 21 or older as of September 1. Your permanent address is inside of the following counties: Aransas, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, and San Patricio or inside the zip codes 78340 (Bayside) and 78393 (Woodsboro) Special Exemptions: Part-time enrollment, online courses only. Move-In Day Reminders Stay Connected All information about move-in day will be communicated via the Housing Portal and your Islander email ! Check both at least once a day! Pay Fall Housing Charge Payments should be made through your S.A.I.L. account. Arrive On-Time You will be given a scheduled move-in date/time. Contact us at [email protected] if you are unable to move in during the scheduled time.

Move-In Day Reminders Check-In The Housing Contract must be completed (or payment plan setup) prior to move-in. Bring a picture ID (driver's license or SandDollar $ card) to check-in and pick up your keys. Sign Up For Code Blue TAMU-CC uses the Code Blue Emergency Notification System, to connect with students, faculty, and staff during emergency situations. Parking Pass Residents are required to purchase a TAMU-CC residential parking permit via their S.A.I.L. account or the Permit Portal.

Roommates Be sure to have a discussion with your roommate(s) about what to bring and what you’ll feel comfortable with sharing in your shared/common space prior to move-in. Reach Out! Find your future roommates in the Housing Portal and contact them to establish a connection! Roommate Agreement All residents will receive a roommate agreement from their RA during their first community meeting. Your Room Will Have: Bed + Mattress Dresser/Drawers Desk with chair Blinds Microwave / Refrigerator* Living Room Set* *Dependent on floor plan

Preparing for move-in What to bring Clothes Linens & Curtains Bathmat Shower Curtain Toiletries Television Personal Items (Pictures & Decorations) What not to bring Pets (*unless you have a pet contract for Pet Zone residents only or an approved assistance animal) Barbecue Grills Candles/Incense Space heaters Illegal Drugs Alcohol for students under the age of 21 Weapons (except as allowed by University rules and all applicable laws) Extension cord & hanging lights See below for a list of necessities. Making the Adjustment Get Connected  Each community will host their own welcome week event to help students meet each other. Check out I-Engage to view and join student organizations. Be sure to check out Waves of Welcome events. Have Fun! Explore campus and Corpus Christi – there are tons of things to do in our beautiful community! Be Open Minded You are going to meet people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Be open to new people and new experiences while living on campus.  Our staff is here to help you adjust to this new environment. Personalize Your Room  This will be your home away from home, so decorate it to your liking.  All furniture must stay in the unit.  You can rearrange your room any way you’d like but all exits must be accessible.  Do not hang anything from the sprinkler heads and do not tamper with life safety equipment.

Safe Living  See Something, Say Something!  As a member of the Islander Housing community, it is imperative that you let us know of any safety/building concerns. If you see something that may look suspicious, please contact the University Police and inform our staff so that we can address the situation. University Police Department  University Police are readily available 24/7. UPD conducts rounds of both housing communities multiple times throughout the day to ensure resident safety. On-site Staff 24/7 Resident Assistants and professional staff serve on an on-call rotation to assist residents for any after-hour emergencies.  Access Control  Only residents will have access to the buildings in the community where they reside.  Renters Insurance  In case of an accident, it is important to protect your belongings. Renter's insurance can cover the belongings in your space. You can find coverage from your auto insurance, homeowners' insurance.
