INTRODUCTION
Bihar State Power Transmission Company
Limited (or BSPTCL), also known as Bihar
State Electricity Board (or BSEB) is a
state-owned electricity regulation board operating
within the state of Bihar in india.Bihar State
Electricity Board (BSEB) was established in 1958
as a statutory corporation under the Electricity
(Supply) Act, 1948. As of November 2012, BSEB
has nearly 1,700 officers and 14,850 employees.
The derated capacity comes to just 530 MW.

INTRODUCTION OF
GRID SUB-STATION
A sub station is a part of an electrical
transmission, and distribution system. Sub
stations transform voltage from high to low, or the
reverse, or perform any of several other important
functions.

DESIGN OF SUBSTATION
●Sub-station should be located at load center
●Sufficient land area
●Grounding
●Easy of maintenance
●Possibility to Expand
●Reliability and Security

Transmission lines from this
sub-station
➢INCOMING:
220 KV
●PGCIL(Power Grid Corporation Of India Ltd)
●BIHARSHARIF
➢OUTGOING:
132 KV
●PAHARPUR
●NAWADAH

•CHANDAUTI

❑ 33 KV

•SOBH
•BODHGAYA
•MANPUR
•AIRPORT

EQUIPEMENTS OF
SUB-STATION
●Lightning Arrester
●Wave Trap
●Isolator
●Instrument Transformers
●Power Transformer
●Insulator
●Circuit Breaker
●Bus Bar

LIGHTNING
ARRESTORS
➢To discharge
lightning over
voltages and
switching over
voltages to earth.

Wave Trap
➢To prevent
high frequency
signals from
entering other
zones.

ISOLATOR
➢Disconnection
under no-load
condition for
safety, isolation
and
maintenance.

CURRENT TRANSFORMER
➢To step-down
current for
measurement,
control &
protection.

POTENTIAL TRANSFORMER
➢The potential
transformer is
used to step
down voltage.
➢It is used to
measurement of
voltage.

TRANSFORMER
➢A transformer is
a static ac device
which convert
electric energy
from one form to
another.
➢Rating-220kv/
132KV,100MVA

INSULATOR
➢ An electrical
insulator is a
material whose
internal electric
charge do not flow
freely and therefor
make it very hard to
conduct an electric
current under the
influence of an
electric field.

TYPES OF INSULATOR
➢Pin Type
➢Strain Type

➢Suspension Type

CIRCUIT BREAKER
➢Circuit breaker
are used for
switching and
protection.
➢Brake a circuit
and
automatically
under fault
condition.

TYPES OF C.B.
➢Minimum oil
Circuit Breaker.
➢ Air Blast Circuit
Breaker.
➢ SF6 Circuit
Breaker.
➢ Vacuum Circuit
Breaker.

BUS BAR
➢A busbar is a
metallic strip or
bar through
which a large no.
of feeders
operating at
same voltage
have to
connected.

PLEASE ALWAYS
SAVE
ELECTRICITY!!!
AS MUCH
YOU CAN…….

THANK
YOU !!!
