2. INTODUCTION It is a satellite education T.V channel. It was started on 26 th January 2000.It carries information from educational organisation like- UGC, CITA, NCERT,NIOS, IITS, TTTIS. Opening through a C band transponder on INSAT 3C as a free to air channel has been upgraded as a completely digital one with effect from 26 th January 2003.

3. HISTORY It was launched by the MHRD, Information & Broadcasting, the Prasar Bharti and IGNOU jointly on 26th January 2000 as the exclusive Educational Television Channel of India. It is a 24-hour transmission channel for educational programmes which covers a variety of subjects and catering to a wide range of viewers.

4. GYAN DARSHAN I,II,III,IV,V Gyan Darshan is an educational TV channel that offers programming for students of all ages on topics like school subjects, careers, and open learning. INFLIBNET works to computerize university libraries and connect them through a national network to facilitate information sharing.

5. ADVANTAGES OF GYAN DARSHAN Televesion can bring the whole world into the class room and makes the past alive. T.V combines bpth sound and picture , moving and still, gets the attention of viewers and has great motivation power. It can magnify even small objects which can be seen by several studentd at a time and it can also show events in slow and fast motion.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF GYAN DARSHAN Gyan Darshan is an educational TV channel that offers programming for students of all ages on topics like school subjects, careers, and open learning. INFLIBNET works to computerize university libraries and connect them through a national network to facilitate information sharing.

7. GYAN DARSHAN I AND II Gyan darshan –I beams round the clock programmes acquired from UGC, NCERT, CTET, SIRSTI,IGNOU. Gyan Darshan –II is a one way video and two way audio satellite interactive system.

8. GYAN DARSHAN III AND IV 3 . Gyan Darshan III is alson known “ Eklavya ”. It offers programms for vocational and techinal education . 4. Gyan Darshan IV , it is also known “ Vayas ”. It serves to the higher education sector.

9. GYAN DARSHAN V Gyan darshan –V planned to be lanched soon. The channel will be dedicated exclusive to the programme on science , technology and sustainable.

10. CONCLUSION Gyan Darshan has not only made its present felt in all Open University and most of the prominent conventional Universities and school, but also has the potential to reach to the door steps of the learners through cable T.V network. Gyan Darshan is transmitted using satellite technology. This signifies the application of space tecnology in the field of education.
