COURSE EPC-3- ASSESSMENT OF THE LEARNING PROCESS TOPIC: INTERNET RESOURCES FOR DIFFERENT DISCIPLINES - MATHEMATIC
MATHEMATICAL DISCIPLINES: Among the principal branches of mathematics are algebra, analysis, arithmetic, combinatorics, Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometries, game theory, number theory, numerical analysis, optimization, probability, set theory, statistics, topology, and trigonometry .
THE AIMS OF MATHEMATICS AS A DISCIPLINE: 1. To enable the child to solve the mathematical problems . 2. To provide a suitable type of discipline in the mind of the learners .
THE SCOPE OF MATHEMATICS AS A DISCIPLINE: Mathematics is essential in the natural sciences, engineering, medicine, finance, computer science, and the social sciences . Although mathematics is extensively used for modeling phenomena, the fundamental truths of mathematics are independent from any scientific experimentation .
I nternet is used in mathematics: Six categories of Internet resources for mathematics student use are identified: ( i ) Interactive resources; (ii) Reading interesting materials; (iii) Reference information; (iv) Communication; (v) Problem solving; and (vi) Webquests .
Math is also extensively used in the sciences field . The subjects of physics, chemistry, and biology, all use science. In physics, you have all the formulas that represent how things work in the real world. In chemistry, you have all the formulas that describe various chemical reactions . T he uses of mathematics in other discipline:
T he ICT resources for math: The resources include the use of spreadsheets, programs, dymanic geometry software, video and internet research . All activities are complete with teachers' notes, further ideas and the relevant software or files. A large variety of ideas, not confined to spreadsheets.
T he value of mathematics as a discipline: The study of mathematics helps us in the development of many intellectual traits like power of thinking and reasoning , induction, analysis, synthesis, originality, generalisation , discovery etc. Every mathematical problem poses an intellectual challenge and is a unique mental exercise.
T he nature of mathematics as a discipline: The study of patterns, numbers, geometrical objects, data, and chance is known as mathematics. It is a broad science that deals with data analysis, the integration of different domains of knowledge, proofs, deductive and inductive reasoning and generalisations , and the explanation of natural events and human conduct.
T he uses of ICT in mathematics: The most obvious example of using ICT in this way is when students use a calculator or something like that to perform more challenging numbers . However, spreadsheets, computer algebra systems, or graphical calculators can be used to solve problems by tests and improvement or retrieval methods.
