Abstract
Mediating Role of Employee Empowerment on the Relationship between Servant Leadership and Job Satisfaction Joezel B. Gara Bank employees should be empowered to do their jobs and keep up with the changing demands of the industry. With this, the aim of this study was to determine the significance of the mediating effect of employee empowerment on the relationship between servant leadership and job satisfaction in the banking industry. This study used quantitative-descriptive-correlational method and considered 400 rank and file commercial and universal bank employees as respondents. Moreover, sets of survey questionnaire were used as instruments to obtain the pertinent data. Pearson Product-Moment Correlation was employed to determine the level of significance of the relationship between servant leadership and job satisfaction when mediated by employee empowerment. Likewise, hierarchical regression was used to analyze the mediating effect of employee empowerment on the relationship between servant leadership and job satisfaction. The findings revealed that the over-all level of servant leadership, empowerment and job satisfaction of bank employees were high. Finally, servant leadership and job satisfaction were partially mediated by employee empowerment. Keywords: Servant leadership, employee empowerment, job satisfaction, Philippines
The Effect of E-Learning on the Skills and Attitudes of Students Jonathan M. Caballero This study was undertaken in order to seek what the impact of e-learning is on the skills and attitudes of the students. Pearson product moment correlation was used in order to give meaning to the data gathered from 50 respondents, male and female, from different programs and year levels in the College of ITE. Findings showed that the correlation between the number of friends and study habits on the female respondents is –0.82664. There was also a weak negative correlation between e-learning approach to lesson realization for both male and female respondents. Female has -0.59063 while male has –0.75388. The result implied that though the students liked e-learning it meant that it was not the only factor that made the students realize the lesson fast. E-learning played a part in the development of skills of the students specially when it comes to realization and application. The application was actually not a part of e-learning module most of the time for it was only the lesson simulation that was normally included, therefore formal application which mattered to the students was still being performed by the teachers. In accordance with the evaluation and correlation result, realization came after the application The general conclusion was that e-learning effect was minimal on some factors, represented as weak negative association to little or no association. This showed that performance of the students as far as attitude is concerned was considered with slight association to the factor that some students do not like long reading when using the computer. Development of Online Resources for the College of Information Technology Education Using Various Electronic Applications Jasmin D. Niguidula | Alvin J. Teruel | Maribeth B. Fernandez The development of online resources for the College of Information Technology Education using various applications was conceptualized due to the need for online resources that had become very important nowadays, for they serve as supplement in the learning experience of the students. Through online resources, students can see the actual picture of the materials, which might not be available in school for experiment use. Students can also be updated with the new trends in their respective disciplines. The study has undergone evaluation, which was performed by two sets of respondents, the students and the administrators. The following criteria were used to evaluate the system as far as the intended student users are concerned: content, ease of learning, ease of use, and performance. The overall mean of the mentioned criteria is 4.36 interpreted as the student users agree on the capability of the system based on the stated criteria. On the other hand, the evaluation by the administrators, at the same time users of the system, evaluated the system using all the criteria used by the student users with the following criteria added such as installation, software compatibility and hardware. The overall mean was recorded as 4.68, which shows that the administrator users strongly agree on the capability of the system based on the criteria mentioned. Personal Skills and Academic Performance of Freshman Students Janette L. David The number of unemployed and underemployed is constantly increasing. Those who search for jobs are usually not hired not because they have poor mental ability or intelligence quotient but more often because they lack some necessary personal skills. Such personal skills include ability to lead, good oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage time. Many schools have recognized the need to develop such skills and have included programs to address this need. The most common venues are the student organizations and the inclusion of additional courses such as personality development. Another program that is helpful is the National Service Training Program, particularly the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS). The CWTS curriculum includes topics on leadership, improving communication skills, time management and budgeting. In order to evaluate how the curriculum can be improved, a study on the freshmen personal skills was conducted.
