About This Presentation

Properties of 3D shapes that includes detail description of faces, edges and vertices.

Slide Content

lets recite a poem of 3D shapes

What are we Learning today? Today we are going to learn the faces, edges and corners of 3D shapes and recall the properties of 3D shapes. KEY WORDS Cube Cuboid Sphere Cylinder cone square-based pyramid

How can we describe these shapes? THESE SHAPES ARE 3D SHAPES OR CALLED AS 3 DIMENSIONAL. A 3D SHAPE IS NOT A FLAT SHAPE .IT IS A SOLID SHAPE .

THE words WE use are … FACES EDGES CORNERS OR VERTICES

Faces A face is a flat or curved surface on a 3D shape.

An edge is where two faces meet each other. Edges

A vertex is a corner where edges meet. Corners/vertices

FACES All 3D shapes have faces. EDGES All 3D shapes have edges apart from a sphere. CORNERS OR VERTICES All 3D shapes have vertices apart from a sphere and cylinder.

Revise the properties of 3D shapes 2 flat faces and 1 curved face Let’s Review some properties of 3D shapes

I have 3 Faces. 2 of them are circles. I have 5 faces and my base is a square. I can be a tent or mountain I have 6 faces,12 edges and 8 vertices. I can be a box , an ice cube or a cage . Cylinder Square based Pyramid Cube Think and Answer

Review and reflect … Let’s Recall.
