Objectives: 1 . Discern the essence of true freedom. 2.Discuss moral responsibility and accountability in their exercise of freedom 3. Realize that all actions have consequences. 4. Differentiate human acts to acts of human. 5. Show situations that demonstrate freedom of choice ad the consequences of choices.
What is freedom? - It is an intrinsic and essential property of the person. -Human person by nature is a free being and that it is in his or her nature to seek freedom. -A person has an ability to make choices and perform actions, our freedom to act sets us apart from other beings.
What is freedom? Freedom is rooted in the human person’s self determination and the exercise of intellect ad free will. - A person’s every action is freely determined and these actions define him or her.
Kinds of Freedom 1. Physical freedom Physical freedom refers to the absence of any physical restraint. The person has the freedom of mobility to go where he or she wants to go . 2. Psychological freedom Is also called freedom of choice . The person is free to perform actions that he or she considers right and wise. The person is also free to act or not to act.
Kinds of Freedom 3. Moral freedom - Refers to using freedom in a manner that upholds human dignity and goodness. Freedom is not an object that a person may use in whatever way he or she pleases. A person must use his or her freedom to grow as a person .
Human Acts versus Act of Man Human acts - Actions done Consciously and freely by the agent/or by man ESSENTIAL QUALITIES of Human Acts 1. knowledge of the act 2 . Freedom 3 . Voluntariness • Man takes into responsibility of these actions
Human Acts versus Act of Man Acts of Man - Actions beyond one’s consciousness; not dependent on the intellect & the will ESSENTIAL QUALITIES of Acts of Man – Done with out knowledge – Without consent – In voluntary
Human Acts versus Act of Man Ex : unconscious, involuntary, semi-deliberate, spontaneous actions • Acts of man can become human acts when he employs his intellect & will in performing the act.

Man is accountable for what he is doing because he is CONSCIOUS of what he is doing, why he is doing it & how he is doing it. DECISION Results in ACTION CONSEQUENCES Faced with Sense of responsibility
