What is Allied Health Profession ? - are lines of work that deal with healthcare, but are distinct from medicine. - have distinct and specialized knowledge and skills that actually work with people accessing health and disabilities. What is Medical Profession ? -is a group of individuals qualified to practice medicine. They might help you; Move Better (Physiotherapist) Eat Healthy food ( Dietitian) Talk clearly (Speech Therapist)

What is Health Care Provider ? -a person who helps identify, prevent, or treat an illness or disabilities What is Health Care Practitioners ? -a n Indipendent healthcare provider who is licinsed to practice on and provide general and/or especialized care to a specific area of the body.

Who are the medical and allied health professions ? Allied health professionals are healthcare practitioners with formal education and clinical training credentials through certification, registration and/or licensure These professions may be categorized into either: Technicians or Technologists/Therapists

Technicians -are those who undergo training to perform specific procedure. -required to work under the supervision of technologists or therapists Therapists or Technologists -have more intensive training. (Includes: acquiring procedural skills) - evaluate patients, diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans, and understand the rationale.

Allied health professionals provide services and engage in activities which includes: Prevention - keep injury or illness from happening. Assessment/Evaluation - appraisal of the condition based on patient’s subjective report. Identification/Diagnosis - analysis based on signs, symptoms and laboratory findings.

Allied health professionals provide services and engage in activities which includes: ( con’t ) Treatment - management and care of a patient or the combating of disease or disorder Rehabilitation/Habilitation - helping someone get back to normal after an illness, injury, or surgery.
