This presentation explores 6LoWPAN (IPv6 over Low-Power Wireless Personal Area Networks), a protocol that allows low-power IoT devices to communicate over the internet using IPv6. 6LoWPAN is widely used in smart homes, industrial automation, and sensor networks, enabling efficient and scalable wireless communication.
Key topics include 6LoWPAN architecture, advantages over traditional networking, integration with IoT and IPv6, and real-world applications in wireless sensor networks and smart technologies. This guide is ideal for students, engineers, and IoT enthusiasts looking to understand low-power wireless networking.

2 6LOWPAN It stands for IPv6 over Low Power Wireless Personal Area Networks. Its standard defined in RFC6282 by IETF. It is used with IEEE 802.15.4 in 2.4 GHz band. It allows IPv6 packets to be passed from 6LoWPAN network.
3 Importance ➨6LoWPAN is a mesh network which is robust, scalable and self healing. ➨It offers long range of communication which detects signals below noise level. ➨It consumes less power as it uses reduced transmission time. ➨It offers large network which can be used by millions of devices. ➨It delivers low cost and secure communication in IoT devices. ➨It offers one to many and many to one routing. ➨It uses IPv6 protocol and hence can be routed directly to cloud platforms.
4 Architecture Wireless Embedded Internet created by connecting Islands of Wireless embedded devices each island being stub network on the internet Overall 6LPOWPAN architecture is presented in the fig Stub Network which IP packets are sent from or destined to but does not act as transit to other network.
5 ➨ It is less secure than zigbee . ➨ It has less immunity to interference than Wi-Fi or Bluetooth devices. ➨ It supports short range without mesh topology. Limitations
