Spoken word(talk) A spoken word is a symbol standing for conveying an idea. It is the most natural way of communication with people . 3
Speakers and listeners who share the same language and background can usually understand each others words easily, words describing tangible objects ( which can be seen with eyes) are easily understood than those objects ( which are difficult to see with eyes). 4
In preparing a talk, consider the following Know the group Select an appropriate topic Have correct and up – to –date information List the points you make Write down what you will say Think of visual aids Practice your whole talk Determine the amount of time you need 5
Visuals Visuals include something seen with eyes. E.g . a poster can be visual aid . steps to follow during demonstration sessions Decide what you want to accomplish Gather information about the idea Gather all the necessary materials for demonstration Rehearse and study. It is important to estimate the time required and to build confidence Explain to the people what you are going to do and why it is important for them. Drama and role plays Drama Is a method by which ideas, feelings, beliefs and values are communicated. Dramas are suitable teaching methods for especially people who cannot read. 14
Role Play It is a type of drama but in a simplified manner. It can be done by two persons simply. E.g Health care provider and patient 15
