The goal as you read like a writer is to locate what you believe are the most important writerly choices represented in the tex 3. WHAT IS READING LIKE A WRITER? Reading like a writer means being impacted by a piece of literature and investigating how the writer did it. Successful works of writing succeed for different reasons― a distinctive voice, moving storytelling, an empowering message, etc.

When you read like a writer, you are trying to figure out how the text you are reading was constructed so that you learn how to “build” one for yourself. Author David Jauss makes a similar comparison when he writes that “reading won’t help you much unless you learn to read like a writer. You must look at a book the way a carpenter looks at a house someone else built, examining the details in order to see how it was made”

As we all know, our brains and muscles have something in common: the fact that exercise is good for them. It Strengthens Your Brain When we read like a writer, we pay attention to a lot more details than we normally do. Reading like a writer involves, amongst other things, a lot of inevitable re-reading. It Helps You Better Understand and Remember What You Read The more you read, the easier it will be for you to be able to recognize certain writers and the more attention you pay to how writers express their thoughts, the easier it will be for you to find your own style if you decide to start writing.
