Accessing the website
•First we should type into
the top of our browser
my.gov.au and press the
“Enter” key
•We can also perform a
Google search for mygov
and click on the first result

Logging in
•You can use either the
username generated by myGov
when you created your account
or the email address associated
with it to log into myGov.
•If you added the feature where
you need to enter a code to log
in, you will also need to enter
the code when prompted.

•This is the main page
for Centrelink online.
•It will tell us basic
information such as
expected payments, last
payment, when to
report and a shortcut to
report immediately.
•We can also click on any
of the other links to get
to a new webpage

The Various Links
•There are a few links to
choose from, we will go
through some of them
now one by one.
•The first one would be
the Home button, click
on this anytime to get
back to the first page
we see on Centrelink
online.

Login Credentials and return to myGov
•One useful thing to look at is located
at the top right hand corner of the
screen
•It says Welcome back, “Your name”
and shows your CRN underneath it
•CRN means “customer reference
number” and is often needed to be
quoted to Centrelink staff
•The myGov box allows you to log out
of Centrelink and go back to myGov.

Menu
•The menu button brings up a variety of
different options Centrelink offers online, most
of which can already be seen and clicked on in
the home page.
•You can type what you want in the “what are
you looking for?” bar or click on one of the
other options depending on what you need to
do.
•You can report online, make appointments, see
your online details, upload documents and
more.

My Details
•Clicking or hovering
over “My Details” allows you to see or update all your details with
Centrelink
You can change addresses, phone numbers, notify Centrelink you are
going overseas, update relationship status as well as change your
password and secret questions.
It is important that all information is up to date in order to continue
receiving benefits from Centrelink.

Payments and Claims
•Most things to do with
money can be found
here
•If you have payments
already, you can report,
see how much you have
been getting, choose
where the money goes
as well as request or
cancel payments.

My Family
•Lists your family
details, including
children, child care,
education status,
partner details and
some family
circumstance related
services
•You can also tell
Centrelink if you do
not need to lodge a tax
return here

Income and Assets
•Here you can report to Centrelink, know when to report again, see
how much you have declared, manage your income/assets, advise
parental income as well as tell Centrelink whether or not you need
to lodge a tax return.

Documents and appointments
•Often when we lodge forms online
we need to upload or request
documents
•We can even be asked by
Centrelink, in person to go online
and upload or request documents
•We can also manage appointments
with Centrelink here. Though only
the ones already made, we cannot
request them.

•This is a customisable space
where you can put what you
click on most for easy access
•There is also a search bar above
it where you can type in a what
you would like to look for.
•The search bar in “menu”
seems to work better, but you
can always give this one a go.

requested or want you to

•In this example it is to report
income, but it could also be a
reminder for an appointment
or a request to fill out a form
•The explanation mark ! Is
used to make it more eye-
catching.

Reporting
•The quickest and easiest way to
report to Centrelink is the click
on either of the links on the
right while logged into
Centrelink online.
•You can also click on payments
and claimsor income and
assets followed by the report
Link to get to the same page.

Requesting a document
•To request a document, click or hover on
the Documents and Appointments Link
and click on Request a document.
•Next, click on the Please selectlink
•You can now choose what type of
document you need and click submit.
•If the document isn’t there, please contact
Centrelink

•Click on finish when
you are done to
leave the page

Uploading a document
•To upload a document, click or
hover on the Documents and
Appointments link and click on
Upload documents.
•When ready, click on begin.
•It will ask if you have already
submitted the document, click
nextor scroll down

Uploading a document
•Files must be the following formats:
PDF, JPG, PNG or TIFF, this basically
means they must be those types of
files and notothers such as a
Microsoft Word file
•The file can be up to 5MB in size.
This means no huge files, most will
be much smaller though
•Only one type of document can be
uploaded at a time. This means if
you need to upload two types you
do one (e.g. Income statement)
then start over for the other (e.g.
Rent Certificate)

•The next step will be to click on the Select a document to uploadbox
as seen below
•This will open an interface (seen in the next slide) that will allow you
to choose which document you would like to upload.

Centrelink forms but

•To do so please click on the

•For a Centrelink form, you can
type in the title or code as seen in
the example and then click on
continue
•For other types of forms, you click
on the box below What does this
document relate to?And choose
from the list as seen on the right.

•When uploading we can click, hold
down and drag the file into the box
on the right to “drop” the files or
we can click on the select your file
link
•If we click on the link it will open a
box that allows us to choose the
file we want, double click the left
mouse button to choose that file or
click on the file then click on open.

•One the file is uploaded it
will show up in the box as
seen on the right.
•The skinny bar on the
bottom of the picture
shows how much more
space you have for
additional files, there is a
limit of 5MB per upload
•Click Done to continue.

•You can upload multiple documents in one sitting.
•To do so click on the Select a document to upload link.
•Or if done, click on the ready to submitbutton.

•The final step that needs to be done is to tick the I understand and
agree to the above termsbox and clicking on nextwhich will submit
the document to Centrelink and give you a “receipt” to confirm.
•Congratulations you are now done.
