Cardiovascular fitness It is the Availity of heart and lungs to supply oxygen to different body parts during sustained physical activity . 1.5 mile run / walk test Purpose Estimate the body’s ability to deliver oxygen to determine cardiovascular fitness level. Equipment Standard track or treadmill
Procedure Begin with a moderate warm up. Start stopwatch at the beginning of run; stop the stopwatch at the end of the distance. Participant should be able to jog for at least 15 minutes to complete this test. The total distance is 1.5 miles; on a standard track is 6 laps. Pacing and constant motivation are important in order to complete the test in the fastest time possible with an accurate estimation of VO2max.
