INTRODUCTION Adductor canal is also known as Subsartorial canal or Hunter’s canal. It’s a intermuscular space situated below the sartorius muscle in the middle 1/3 rd of the thigh. It’s an aponeurotic tunnel The eponym ‘Hunter’s Canal’ is name for John Hunter (1729-92) John Hunter was an anatomist and surgeon at London. Hunter’s operation for the treatment of Popliteal Aneurysm by ligating the femoral artery in the adductor canal is a landmark in the history of vascular surgery.
The canal extends from the apex of the Femoral Triangle to the opening in the Adductor Magnus .The Adductor Hiatus. EXTENSION AND SHAPE The canal is triangular on cross- section or Troug shaped intermuscular tunnel.

CLINICAL ANATOMY ADDUCTOR CANAL COMPRESSION SYNDROME Entrapment of Neurovascular bundle within adductor canal. Rare condition. Occurs as a result of Hypertrophy of adjacent muscles ,commonly vastus medialis . Most commonly in young males. Clinically patient may present with : Intermittent claudication symptoms(pain on walking) More common. Due occlution of femoral artery. Neurological symptoms : Pain , Numbness. Due to entrapment of saphaneous nerve.
