ADVERB OF TIME – tells us when something is done. We use it at the beginning or at the end of a sentence. Adverbs of time include afterwards, already, always, immediately, last month, now, soon, then, and yesterday. He collapsed and died yesterday . His factory was burned down a few months ago . Last week , we were stuck in the lift for an hour. ADVERB OF PLACE – tells us where something is done. We use it after a verb, object or at the end of a sentence. Adverbs of place include words such as above, below, here, outside, over there, there, under, upstairs. We can stop here for lunch. They rushed for their lives when the fire broke out in the floor below. The participants can play outside. KAILAN NANGYARI/ WHEN? SAAN NANGYARI WHERE?

ADVERB OF DEGREE –tells us the level of extent that something is done. Words of adverb of degree are almost, much, nearly, quite, really, so too, very etc. Her daughter is quite fat for her age. She was too shy to join the quiz bee. The accident victim nearly died from his injuries.   ADVERB OF FREQUENCY – tells us how often something is done. Words used as adverb of frequency include again, always, ever, frequently, hardly ever, nearly, nearly always, never, occasionally, often, rarely, seldom, sometimes, twice, weekly etc. While overseas, he frequently phoned home . He take his capsule twice a day. She never reads newspapers. GAANO KADALAS GINAGAWA ANG KILO? GAANO KA O GAANO KATINDI?

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ADVERB OF DEGREE AND ADVERB OF FREQUENCY Adverbs of Degree Purpose: They indicate the intensity, extent, or amount of an action, quality, or state. Usage: They modify adjectives, adverbs, or verbs. Modifying adjectives: He is very tall . (how tall he is?) Modi fying adverbs: She runs extremely fast . (How fast she run?) Modifying verbs: I almost forgot your birthday. (How he/she forgot your birthday?)

Purpose: They indicate how often an action occurs. Usage: They typically modify verbs. Adverbs of Frequency She always smiles . I sometimes eat pizza. They never go to the movies.

EXERCISE ON ADVERBS Encircle the adverb and identify its type. I often visit my grandparents. Alice fell into the rabbit hole. Wet pieces of clay fell everywhere. Sean never likes that old hotel. I jog sometimes. Yesterday, they play the games. The show will begin soon. George will come here? 9. Allison moved away. 10. Dennis always brings his dog. 11. She is amazingly skillful in both spending and saving money. 12. The boys were extremely nice to the new student. 13. The football game was rather fun. 14. Today, mother is inspired. 15. Jim saw the cat on the sidewalk.
