Agriculture is essential for human beings as it provides food, crops, pulses, etc. which are essential for mankind. HISTORY: Farming started in the presynaptic period at the end of the Paleolithic, after 10,000 BC. In India, wheat, barley and jujube were domesticated by 9,000 BC, soon followed by sheep and goats

Nomadic Herding: Nomadic herding is the farming method that involves herders and farmers traveling from place to place with their flocks of animals for their fodder. The herders also obtain wool, meat, hide, and dairy products from the livestock. Some of the well known pastoral nomad tribes in Africa are the Maasai, Berbers, Somali , Boran and a few others. In India, Bhotiyas and Gujjars are the nomadic tribes of Himalayas.
Shifting Agriculture : Shifting cultivation is an extensive farming practice and refers to agricultural systems in which a plot of land is cleared by burning. That is why it is also called Slash and Burn The land is cultivated for short periods of time, then abandoned and left in fallow for more extended periods of time than that during which it was cultivated.
Intensive subsistence agriculture: Intensive subsistence agriculture is characterised by high output per unit of land. It is plot of land in thickly populated parts of the world. There is extensive use of land , multiple cropping, heavy use of manual labour , but a little use of from machinery and variety of manures and fertilisers .
EXTENSIVE AGRICULTURE Agriculture is done on a large scale on big land holdings by using modern machinery. Extensive agriculture, in agricultural economics, system of crop cultivation using small amounts of labour and capital in relation to area of land being farmed. The crop yield in extensive agriculture depends primarily on the natural fertility of the soil, the terrain, the climate, and the availability of water.
PLANTATION AGRICULTURE Plantation agriculture is a very well-organized system of agriculture wherein a single crop farming is done. Plantation agriculture is a type of farming where a large estate is operated by a single owner, and the majority of the work is done by hired laborers. The crops that are raised on plantations are typically cash crops, such as cotton, sugarcane, or tobacco.
LIVESTOCK RANCHING Ranching is the act of running a huge farm, especially breeding cattle on a ranch, to raise them. Commonly, ranchers are involved in raising grazing animals such as sheep and cattle. In addition, some also raise bison, elk, emus, ostriches, and alpacas. The livestock and ranching industry is fast-growing compared to any other agricultural domain globally.
DAIRY FARMING It is a specialized form of agriculture for the large scale production of milk. Dairy farmers are responsible for tasks such as feeding and watering the cattle, milking the cows, and maintaining their health and well-being. Modern dairy farming often includes technology and practices to increase milk production efficiency, such as automated milking machines and computerized herd management systems.
