CONTENT BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY SCOPE OF THE STUDY RESEARCH DESIGN AND APPROACH SAMPLING TECHNIQUES SOURCE OF DATA & DATA COLLECTION TECHNIQUES DATA ANALYSIS SUMMARY/FINDING RECOMMENDATION

Cont … 1.Background of the study Tourism is defined as the temporary movement of people to destinations outside their normal places of work and residence and activities under taken during the time sent at that destination. Tourism Service is growing at a faster rate than all agricultural and manufacturing business combined. In fact, tourism –related business is leading producers of new jobs worldwide. The tourist flow in the developing countries has both benefit and cost.

Conti … But most of the tourism programmers in developing countries have been carried out without sufficient and careful attention of the various benefits and cost involved. In this regard tourism has played both positive and negative roles in the developing countries. Tourism is simply an activity under taken by a person at leisure that also travels. Ethiopia is among these developing countries the above mentioned impacts directly or indirectly influence especially the main tourist destination of the country such as Hosanna, Aksum, Gander, Lalibela, Bahir Dar and other tourist destinations areas of Ethiopia.

Conti … Therefore the researcher wants to study the factors affecting this industry in order to minimize the negative factors and upgrade the positive factors by creating favorable factor for the sector in order to become economically, socially, culturally, environmentally and politically, friendly and sustainable. 2. Statement of the problem Tourism has become a significant industry in both poor and rich economies because of its important impacts on economic, livelihoods and socio-cultural developments (Shah, 2000).

Conti … According to Mitchell and Coles (2009) Tourist flows in Hosanna are similar to those in Labella in terms of the total number of visitors (adding together international and domestic visitors). However, in almost all other tourist flows in Hosanna contrast strongly with those in Lalibela. First, Lalibela is dominated numerically- as well as economically- by international visitors. Hosanna has only half as many international tourists but almost twice as many domestic tourists as Lalibela. Second, as a result of a more domestic-orientated tourism in Hosanna and the much shorter length of stay (1.0 days rather than the average of 2.2 days in Lalibela), tourist spending is correspondingly much lower.

Conti … Hosanna is one of the top tourist sites in Ethiopia due to this reason the numbers of tourists visiting Hosanna is increasing from time to time. The numbers of tourists both the international and domestic tourists in 2007 were 6,625 and 9,480 respectively. After twelve years (2015) the number of international and domestic tourists increased to 18,032 and 22,359 respectively so, with the rising number of tourists in the area, various socio-economic and environmental as well as political impact of tourism is expected to increase too.

Conti … For instances, loss of cultural identity, aggravating prostitution and heritage degradation are common problem in the area at present. Assessing the magnitude Factors affect tourism market economic, environmental and political impact of tourism is very crucial so as to indicate the possible suggestions. In line with this the researcher motivates to study on such topic because of Hosanna could not get benefit from the sector as its expected and in line with its potential of tourist attractions.
