Role of IT in road safety – working together to reduce the road toll We put the necessary systems and technology in place to help make roads safer Examples: myLearners app and website enables young learner drivers to log and track hours and adopt healthier and safer driving habits. vCom app for the heavy vehicle team enables access to vehicle searches and driver information in real-time giving VicRoads the ability to issue infringements, warnings and defect notices electronically. Technology upgrade behind traffic lights provides the latest communication services to the central traffic control system so we can collect data about travel times and congestion from over 1200 blue tooth roadside collection sites across Victoria.
