Definition of communication Communication is the process by which information is exchanged between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs or behaviour, (Adler, Ronald B., George, R., & Athena du pre, 13 th ed., Oxford University Press 2017).

Importance of communication Builds relationship It fosters relationships by allowing people to share their feelings, thoughts and ideas. It helps in developing trust and understanding between individuals.
Importance continued Facilitates collaboration In a team communication ensures that everyone is in the same page, working towards the same goals and aware of their responsibilities.
Importance continued Problem solving Open communication allows for sharing of different perspectives and ideas, which in is essential for effective problem solving. It helps identify issues early and find solutions collaboratively.
Importance continued Increases productivity When communication is clear and concise, tasks are understood and expectations are set. This leads to better time management and increased efficiency as everyone knows what needs to be done.
Importance continued Reduces conflict Effective communication helps prevent these issues by ensuring that messages are conveyed accurately and that everyone understands each other.
Importance continued Enhances customer satisfaction Communication ensures that customer needs are understood and they are provided with the best possible service. It builds trust and can lead to repeat business.
Importance continued Promotes personal growth On a personal level, communication allows individuals to express themselves, learn from others and grow emotionally and intellectually.
