AMADEUS Amadeus is a leading Global Distribution System (GDS) and technology provider, serving the marketing, sales and distribution needs of the world’s Travel and Tourism industries in over 210 markets around the world. Through Amadeus travel agencies and airline Offices can make bookings 95 percent of the world’s scheduled airline seats.

AMADEUS GDS SYSTEM Main objectives of Amadeus GDS are : Increase the efficiency of airline booking To replace the existing reservation system in the market of its kind and provide totally neutral distribution system To give equally comprehensive access to car rentals and hotel services to create a global system.

AMADEUS GDS SYSTEM Air France, Iberia,Lufthansa and SAS founded Amdeus GDS system in 1987 and it begun operating in 1992. Its data base and data networking is serving nearly 60,000 travel agents,12,000 airline offices and 60,000 hotels world wide. Amadeus launched in India in early ‘90s.

AMADEUS GDS SYSTEM Amadeus is an organized company having its base in Madrid (Spain). It has three subsidiaries : Development Marketing Operations( M unich) The product of Amadeus Data Processing Corporation, Amadeus Central system is located in Munich. Amadeus is connected to the world via its own high speed communication network (AMANET), Operates 24hours for the whole years

AMADEUS WORK AREAS Amadeus provides six (6) work ares in which a travel agent may sign-in to. These work areas are known as… Agent Assembly Areas (AAA’s). The work areas could be considered as six separate connections to Amadeus where you can create or modify reservations. The six work areas are each given an identifier A through F. The command to display the status of the work areas is : JD

ENCODING AND DECODING The Process used to convert a full name of an item into a code is referred to as encoding Decoding is the reverse process The Amadeus system provides two variations to the same command to display a location. Command is “DAN” -Display City Name

AVIALABILITY The Amadeus system provides different types of airline availability displays. Command Example : AN30JUNDELMEL

SCHEDULE DISPLAY The Amadeus Schedule display allows you to display flights for airline carriers , as well as those who do not provide reservations access to their flights in Amadeus . Code is (SN) Command Example : SN30JUNDELMEL

TIME TABLE DISPLAY The Amadeus Timetable displays flights operating during a specified one-week period. To display flights of airlines that do not have a sales agreement with Amadeus, add the airline preference option/AYY to the end of your command. Code is (TN) Command Example : TN30JUNDELMEL

FLIGHT INFORMATION The Flight Information stored and displayed in Amadeus provides the most up-to-date information about the operation of a particular flights both before and after departure. The flight information available in Amadeus is provided by airlines. Command Example: DOAI308/30JUN/DELMEL

SELL AIR SEGMENTS SHORT SELL This method requires the user to first display an Amadeus availability display before selling, using line numbers from the availability display as a reference. Command : SS1U1 LONG SELL This method requires that the user provide the flight number, departure date, origin point, destination point and number of seats required into the command entry. Command : SSAI308U01JULDELMEL1

It has extended to 172 cities of India.
