Civic Education: Opportunity Statement We have the opportunity to call for an American renewal through civics education by creating a strategy that grows and maximizes collective momentum to increase/improve: -Civic Knowledge -Civic Skills, and -Student and Family Agency Between now, July 4, 2026, and beyond! ‹#›
Civic Education: Agreements (examples, not exhaustive) Acknowledgements: Parents are the first educators Learning happens everywhere Then it happens in school Then you continue learning and have the opportunity to apply your knowledge Students and families experiencing supportive, accepting, and respectful relationships with both teachers and peers where students feel valued and safe is critical to civic participation and the health of our democracy. The student experience should be co-created with students, families and teachers and be designed to spark curiosity, joy and pride in oneself, their community and our country. We assume the best intent of ourselves and our partners, while being committed to continuous learning and improvement. We are preparing students for a democracy that values pluralism and demands viewpoint diversity, rather than just being willing to tolerate it. We recognize the value of the unique role that each individual does play in contributing to our democracy. “Shame and humiliation are the nuclear bomb of conflict” -we will not pursue these tactics. ‹#›
