ammonium carbonate
using carbon-dioxide
Abstract
The invention discloses a method to produce
ammonium carbonate by carbon dioxide, which
comprises, sending the carbon dioxide and
ammonia gas with purity of 99-99.99% into two baffer
gas vats with pressure of 0.2-2MPa; opening the
valve of the vats to release gas by rotameter into
sealed PVC synthesis reaction bag and generate the
product; wherein, the flow speed is (0.6-2)X106L/h
and (0.1-0.6)X106L/h for carbon dioxide and
ammonia gas separately.

14. The production of
ammonium carbonates
•The production of ammonium carbonates comprise interaction of gaseous ammonia and carbon
dioxide in the presence of water, both as vapoursand liquid.
•The production of ammonium carbonates from liquid ammonia, carbon dioxide and water vapours,
wherein the desired product is formed within the reactor working space in the form of fine particles
which fall to the reactor bottom and are discharged by means of a screw conveyor.
•Ammonium carbonate slowly decomposes at standard temperature and pressure through two
pathways. Thus any initially pure sample of ammonium carbonate will soon become a mixture
including various byproducts. It can spontaneously decompose into ammonium bicarbonate and
ammonia:(NH
4)
2CO
3→ NH
4HCO
3+ NH
3
•The process is conducted at the temperature of 10°C. under the pressure of 80 mm Hg. The reactor
walls do not participate in the heat removal and the product is not formed thereon, since the heat
evolved in the reaction is compensated by evaporation and expansion of liquid ammonia.
Preparation of ammonium carbamate from liquid ammonia and liquid carbon dioxide by bulk
condensation is carried out in an excess of carbon dioxide, full utilization whereof for increasing the
desired product yield is only possible after purification from ammonia and liquiefactionwhich again
hinders the process.
