Triceps muscle
•Origin:
•Longhead:fromtheinfraglenoidtubercleofthescapula.
•Lateralhead:fromtheupperhalfoftheposteriorsurfaceof
theshaftofthehumerus.
•Medialhead:fromthelowerhalfoftheposteriorsurfaceofthe
shaftofthehumerus
•Insertion:
•Intotheuppersurfaceoftheolecranonprocessoftheulna.
•NerveSupply:
•Fromtheradialnerve.
•Action:
•Extensionoftheforearmattheelbowjoint.

Radial Nerve
Theoriginoftheradialnervefromtheposteriorcordof
thebrachialplexusintheaxilla.
Thenervewindsaroundthebackofthearminthespiral
groove.
Inthespiralgroove,thenerveisaccompaniedbythe
profundavessels,anditliesdirectlyincontactwiththe
shaftofthehumerus.
Itpiercesthelateralfascialseptumabovetheelbowand
continuesdownwardintothecubitalfossainfrontofthe
elbow,betweenthebrachialisandthebrachioradialis
muscles.

RADIAL NERVE

Branches of the radial nerve
Intheaxilla,
•Muscularbranchestothelongandmedialheadsofthe
triceps
•Posteriorcutaneousnerveofthearm.
Inthespiralgroove
•Muscularbranchestothelateralandmedialheadsof
thetricepsandtotheanconeusmuscle.
•Thelowerlateralcutaneousnerveofthearm
•Theposteriorcutaneousnerveoftheforearm.
Intheanteriorcompartmentofthearm
•Muscular branchestothebrachialis,the
brachioradialis,andtheextensorcarpiradialislongus
muscles.
•Articularbranchestotheelbowjoint.

Ulnar Nerve
•Itisabranchofthemedialcordofthebrachialplexus
•Itpiercesthemedialfascialseptumanddescendsbehind
theseptum,coveredposteriorlybythemedialheadofthe
triceps.
•Thenerveisaccompaniedbythesuperiorulnarcollateral
vessels.
•Attheelbow,itliesbehindthemedialepicondyleof
thehumerus.
•Itcontinuesdownwardtoentertheforearmbetweenthe
twoheadsoforiginoftheflexorcarpiulnaris
Branches
•Theulnarnervehasanarticularbranchtotheelbowjoint

Profunda Brachii Artery
•Theprofundabrachiiarteryarisesfromthebrachialartery
nearitsorigin.
•Itaccompaniestheradialnervethroughthespiralgroove,
suppliesthetricepsmuscle,andtakespartinthe
anastomosisaroundtheelbowjoint.
•SuperiorandInferiorUlnarCollateralArteries
•Thesuperiorandinferiorulnarcollateralarteriesarise
fromthebrachialarteryandtakepartintheanastomosis
aroundtheelbowjoint.
