I s when people repeatedly and intentionally use words or actions against someone or a group of people to cause distress and risk to their wellbeing. These actions are usually done by people who have more influence or power over someone else, or who want to make someone else feel less powerful or helpless. WHAT IS BULLYING?

A n act requiring all elementary and Secondary Schools to adopt policies to prevent and address the act of bullying in their institutions. Republic Act No. 10627

TYPES OF BULLYING

PHYSICAL BULLYING > a type of bullying where someone uses their body or an object to hurt or scare another person.

VERBAL BULLYING > when someone uses words to hurt, harass, or scare another person.

SOCIAL BULLYING > when a person tries to hurt another person's relationships or reputation.

CYBER BULLYING > bullying with the use of digital technologies or any electronic means .

Factors of being b ully : (FAMILY FACTOR) Having Permissive Parents. Not getting enough attention Seeing or Experiencing Bullying by Siblings. Lack of supervission by parents Harsh/Physical discipline Parent modelling of bullying attitude

Factors of being b ully : (PEER FACTOR) Witnessing or Experiencing Abuse Exhibiting High Self-Esteem Relating to Others Negatively Craving Power Friends who bully

CHARACTERISTICS OF BULLIES 1. Impulsiveness 2. Anger management problems 3. Controlling, rather than leading 4. Lacking empathy; not sympathetic to the needs or desires of others 5. Difficulty following rules

CHARACTERISTICS OF BULLIES 6. Little respect for authority 7. Views violence in a positive way, such as a form of entertainment or a good way to get needs met or attention 8. Physically stronger than other children (common with boys who bully) 9. Perceived as popular (common with girls who bully)

SHORT TERM EFFECT OF BULLYING Sad, lonely, or nervous Feel sick Have problems at school Depression Anger Habit of aggressive behaviour Frequent crying or bed wetting Bully others Sleep disorders

LONG TERM EFFECT OF BULLYING 1. P oor academic performance 2. S chool dropout 3. S truggle with self-esteem 4. More likely to try drugs and alcohol 5. Continuous and severe depression 6. Psychological disorders / mental health problems 7. Likely to require psychological help

LONG TERM EFFECT OF BULLYING 8. H ard time trusting people 9. H ave difficulty developing and maintaining relationships 10. J uvenile delinquency 11. C riminal behavior 12. Self inflicted harm 13. Suicidal thoughts and suicide acts

WHAT TO DO? Here are the things that the victim can do; Tell an adult right away (the best thing to do) Either stand up against the bully or walk away from the bully Be with other kids. Tell you teachers or school authorities Private/ Public schools should set-up a CPC- (Child Protection Committee) to receive reports and handle cases involving abuse and exploitation of kids. If SOCIAL web bullying- report it to the SERVICE PROVIDER so they can act on it. Block the hostile account from accessing your social networking.

Keep in mind that there are two (2) laws can be used for bullying cases; BATAS PAMBANSA 232 (BATAS PAMBANSA BILANG 232 AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF AN INTEGRATED SYSTEM OF EDUCATION ) and RA 7610 (Protection against child abuse, exploitation and discrimination) 11. Seek professional help if needed to recover from the trauma. 1 2. MOVE ON! WHAT TO DO? Here are the things that the victim can do;
