History of Antibiotics
Some commonly used antibiotics in modern day practice Upper respiratory tract infections. 1) Acute sinusitis. Tetracycline 500mg tab for 5 days. Or tab . Doxycycline 100mg. Or tab ampicillin – cloxacillin 1-1-1-1 Or cap ciprofloxacin 500mg bd. 2) sinus headaches. Ampicillin 500mg bd Or tab cosome or zedex cold 2-3 times / day. Allergic rhinitis. Tab levocetrizine 5mg od or loratidine 10mg od. Lower respiratory tract infections: 1) Acute bronchitis – Tab. Salbutamol 2mg bd. Amoxicillin or Azithromycin 500mg tds Or cefditran 200mg tds Or Amoxicillin with clavulinic acid 625mg bd. Or moxifloxacin 400mg od. CHRONIC BROCHITIS. Cap.doxycycline 100mg If sputum becomes yellowish then, Ampicillin or Amoxicillin 500mg tds Or cefuroxime 250- 500mg bd.
