This experience not only taught him the value of hard work but also instilled a strong sense of discipline, which became a cornerstone of his life. His hunger for knowledge drove him to excel in school despite the challenges. After completing his schooling, kalam graduated in physics from st. Joseph’s college, tiruchirappalli , and later pursued aerospace engineering at the prestigious madras institute of technology (MIT). One of the key turning points in his life occurred during his time at MIT. The engine design challenge during his final year at MIT, kalam’s professors assigned him the task of designing a complex aircraft engine. When his design didn’t meet their expectations, they challenged him to finish it within a tight deadline of three days. Despite immense pressure, kalam worked day and night, successfully completing the task on time. This moment made him realize the importance of persistence and focus, traits that would guide him throughout his career. The rejected dream of becoming a fighter pilot kalam once dreamed of becoming a fighter pilot. After completing his education, he applied to the Indian air force but was ranked ninth, while only eight positions were available. He was deeply disappointed but later reflected that this rejection was part of a greater plan. It motivated him to shift his focus toward aerospace engineering and India's missile program, where he made some of his most significant contributions.

Kalam earned the title "missile man of India" for his pioneering work in developing the Agni and Prithvi missile systems, significantly enhancing India's defense capabilities. He also played a crucial role in the success of the Pokhran-ii nuclear tests in 1998, making India a nuclear power. His love for children and education kalam’s deep love for children and education was evident throughout his presidency. He once visited a school in Chandigarh where a young girl asked him why India, despite having so much talent, was still a developing country. Kalam answered by saying, "we will be a developed nation when each one of you believes in your dreams and works hard to achieve them." He spent hours interacting with students, reminding them that the power to change the world was in their hands. During his presidency, he authored several books, including "wings of fire" and "India 2020," where he laid out his vision for a developed and prosperous India. His leadership was marked by his simple lifestyle—he carried very few personal belongings and focused on national progress. His last moments on July 27, 2015, dr.
