INTRODUCTION
The microbiota refers to the community of microorganisms, including
bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other microbes, that inhabit a particular
environment, such as the human gut, skin, or mouth. These
microorganisms play crucial roles in maintaining health by aiding in
digestion, synthesizing vitamins, and protecting against pathogens. The
balance and composition of the microbiota can significantly influence
overall health and disease states.

INTRODUCTION
Extracted from the fruit of apple, has
been used to treat multiple pathological
diseases. It was found that this AP could:
APPLE POLYSACCHARIDE
Alleviate cognitive impairment and
oxidative stress
Be anti-inflammatory and antioxidant
Repair intestinal mucosal barrier
function
Reduce intestinal aging

Objective
Recognize the effects of the apple
polysaccharide in the intestinal
aging and other factors through
microbiota gut- brain axis.

Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end
labeling) staining, also called the TUNEL assay, detects
the DNA breaks formed when DNA fragmentation occurs
in the last phase of apoptosis, in this study is used to
evaluate the apoptosis of mouse colon tissue cells.
Methods
TUNEL

Western blotting analysis
Used to identify the presence of a protein in a sample
based in the reaction of an antibody and antigen, in
this case they were studying the AP and it’s influence
in the microbiota, they needed to know which
proteins were effective in this process.

16S rDNA gene sequencing
technique for determining the exact
sequence of nucleotides, or bases, in a DNA
molecule. In this study they were looking
the V4 region of the 16S gene, and they
needed to find similarity and the abundance
of bacteria.

ELISA
ELISA which stands for enzyme-linked
immunosorbent assay) is a technique to
detect the presence of antigens in
biological samples, in this case they
measured inflammatory cytokines and
antioxidant indexes.

Chronic progressive inflammation and oxidative
stress with age can disrupt the intestinal epithelial
barrier and increase intestinal permeability

DISCUSSION
Synaptic related proteins, especially PSD95 and
SYP, are markers of synaptic plasticity and play a
crucial role in memory
Liu, Y. et al
One factor contributing to age-related cognitive
decline is the increase in oxidative stress
Hajjar, I. et al.

Understanding the human body from the
perspective of molecular biology
significantly improves the quick diagnosis of
various diseases and their effective
treatment.
Thanks to modern molecular techniques, we
can run several tests to advance the
development of medications and treatments
for better health outcomes.
By thoroughly understanding genetic
material, we can move towards more
effective preventive medicine.
