SATELLITE Applications

What is a SATELLITE? A satellite is a celestial object or machine that orbits a planet or star. For example, Earth is a satellite because it orbits the sun. Likewise, the moon is a satellite because it orbits Earth.

Weather Forecasting Weather forecasting is the prediction of the future of weather. Satellites can observe weather patterns and conditions across the entire Earth's surface, providing a global perspective. Satellites equipped with various sensors and instruments can collect data on different atmospheric variables, including temperature, humidity, wind speed, cloud cover, and precipitation. It enables meteorologists to analyze current conditions and predict future weather patterns.

Navigation Navigation refers to determining the geographical location of an object. The satellites used for navigation of any object are called navigation satellites. GPS (Global Positioning System) is an example of navigation system.

Astronomy Astronomy is the study of celestial objects. The satellites used to study or observe distant star, galaxies, planets are called astronomical satellite. They capture high resolution images of the distant stars, planets etc.                                                                                                           For example: - Hubble space telescope.

Military Military  satellites are used by the army for various purposes such as spying on enemy countries, military communications, and navigation. They also detect the missile launched by the other countries. They are used by armed forces to communicate with each other.

Disaster Management Satellites play a critical role in disaster management by providing real-time information about natural disasters like hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and earthquakes. They aid in emergency response, search and rescue operations, and assessing damage after a disaster.
