Additionally, irrigation provides crop insurance in case of short drought, cool the soil and atmosphere for the plant, wash out soil salinity, soften tillage pan and clods, facilitate the functioning of some microorganisms, and enhance the fertilizer application, or fertigation. 4. DRIP IRRIGATION Drip irrigation   entails water application at a slower pace. In this system, pipes called dripper lines and drippers emit drops of water or fertilizer directly to the plant root zone. Drip irrigation is considered one of the most efficient water and nutrient delivery system for growing crops since it transfers them directly to the roots of the plants. 4
