ANTHROPOMETRY Anthropometrics is the comparative study of the human body’s measurements and capabilities. It comes from the Greek words anthropos ( human ) and metron (meaning measure ).

The dimensions and clearances shown for the average adult represent minimum requirements for use in planning building layouts and furnishings. If possible, clearances should be increased to allow comfortable accommodations for persons larger than average. DIMENSION AND CLEARANCES ANTHROPOMETRY THE DIMENSIONS IN THE IMAGE ARE IN Ft. Inch

DIMENSIONS OF ADULTS ANTHROPOMETRY

DIMENSION OF CHILDREN ANTHROPOMETRY CHILDREN DO NOT HAVE THE SAME PHYSICAL PROPORTIONS AS ADULTS ESPECIALLY DURING THEIR EARLY YEARS. .PARKING. CAR TURNING RADIUS

.PARKING VEHICLES DIMENSIONS

TYPES OF PARKING PARKING . PARALLEL PARKING The vehicles are parked along the length of the road. It is the most safest parking from the accident perspective. It consumes the maximum curb length and therefore only a minimum number of vehicles can be parked.

PARKING. TYPES OF PARKING 30° PARKING   Vehicles in 30° Parking Space are parked at 30° to the road alignment. Advantage of this type of parking space is it offers better maneuverability and reduces delays caused to the track.

PARKING. TYPES OF PARKING 45° PARKING The 45° Parking Space can accommodate more vehicles compared to and 30° parking . This is made possible by the increase in the angle of parking. The 45° Parking Space is also easily maneuverable as it does not require vehicles to make a sharp turn while parking.

PARKING. Description TYPES OF PARKING 60° PARKING Description The 60° Parking Space is usually the middle ground between straight and 45° parking spaces. Its advantage is it takes up less space and enables cars to maneuver in and out with ease. Vehicles usually are at 60° in the direction of the road.

PARKING TYPES OF PARKING 90° PARKING Description The 90° Parking Space is also known as perpendicular parking. These spaces are at 90° in the direction of the road. The biggest disadvantage with 90° parking space is that executing it is tricky, and you may risk colliding with other vehicles if you don’t exercise a lot of caution.

ROOM ORIENTATION RELATED TO THE MOVEMENT OF THE SUN

SUN ORIENTATION ASPECT ‘ASPECT’ MEANS PECULARITY OF THE ARRANGEMENT OF DOORS AND WINDOW IN THE EXTERNAL WALLS OF A BUILDING WHICH ALLOWS THE OCCUPANTS TO ENJOY NATURAL GIFT SUCH AS SUN SHINE BREEZE SCENERY,ETC.ASPECT IS A VERY IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION PLANNING AS IT PROVIDES NOT ONLY COMFORT AND GOOD ENVIROMENT LIFE IN BUT FROM HYGIENIC POINT OF VIEW ALSO FOR KITCHEN E-ASPECT F0R DINING ROOM S-ASPECT FOR DRAWING AND LIVING ROOM S-ASPECT OR S-E ASPECT FOR BED ROOMS S-W-ASPECT OR W-ASPECT FOR VERANDAHS S-W-ASPECT OR W-ASPECT FOR READING ROMMS –STORES AND STAIRS N-ASPECT OR N-E ASPECT

SUN ORIENTATION As you can see in the diagram the kitchen should have an E-aspect , so that the morning sun would refresh and purify the air and keep the kitchen cool during the remaining period of making a the day. The dining, drawing and living rooms should have Following a S-aspect or S-E-aspect. The sun is towards the south during winter and more deviated towards the north during summer. Similarly, the bedrooms should have W-aspect or S-W-aspect, since the breeze required in summer will be available from west side only. But a verandah, a gallery or some such sun-shading device, must be provided on that side (i.e., W or S-W side) so as to protect the structure from the hot afternoon sun. As there will be no direct sun from the north and only diffused light will be available, hence, reading rooms, stores, stairs, studios, class-rooms ,etc. are placed towards the north.
