Course Description ART APPRECIATION Art Appreciation is a three- unit course that develops students’ ability in appreciating, analyzing, and criticizing works of art. This course aims to provide an avenue for college students to gain a better understanding and genuine appreciation of the arts. ARTAPP030 By means of an interdisciplinary approach (Humanities, History and Philosophy) , this course will equip the students with a broader knowledge of the arts along with its practical, historical, philosophical and social importance which seeks to directly oppose the prevalent notion that “arts are only for entertainment”. Hence, this course will explore the different dimensions of arts in general, while steadfastly retaining the Filipino cultural identity in all its diversity and richness. Through lecture, research, and project making, it is expected that students must have immersed into the realm of art. Such exposure would impel them to integrate the appreciation of art and nature and environment for the protection and preservation of such in their pursuit of knowledge to further humanize their lives.

1. Analyze and appraise works of art based on their aesthetic value, historical context, tradition, and social relevance;
2. Curate and mount an art exhibit (concept development, production and post-production, marketing, documentation, critiquing);

4. Utilize art for self-expression and for promoting advocacies;
