Artificial Intelligence and Elementary Education

Introduction The 21st International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED), held in 2020, highlighted AIED as a growing field within educational technologies. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made it possible to meet diverse student learning needs; and is helping schools across the world operate more efficiently. Both National Education Policy (NEP) and National Curriculum Framework (NCF) highlight the importance of 21st-century skills such as Critical Thinking, Problem-solving, Creativity and Collaboration. This paper explores the use of AI in elementary education through an empirical study using the six parameters Personalized Learning, Intelligent Tutoring System, Adaptive Assessments, Virtual Classrooms, AI Powered Content Creation, Predictive Analytics.

Conclusions This study was undertaken to find the impact of artificial intelligence on personalized learning (PL), predictive analytics (PA) and intelligent tutoring system (ITS) in elementary education. The study observed that AI has significant effect on all the above mentioned components in elementary level education. It is recommend that educator should develop an AI curriculum framework as well as develop activities for early childhood education. AI has the potential to transform the educational landscape by enhancing learning outcomes, personalizing education, supporting teachers.

Closing Statement Limited research and evidence, insufficient teacher training, and ethical and privacy concerns are significant hurdles in implementing artificial intelligence in elementary education. AI can be a powerful tool in creating more effective, inclusive, and personalized educational experiences for elementary students. Additionally, the adaptability and customization of AI tools, student engagement, integration with existing systems, cost and sustainability, parental involvement, and appropriate evaluation metrics are areas requiring careful consideration and ongoing effort.
