Asexual Reproduction
Type of reproduction in which a
new organism is produced from
ONEparent and the offspring is
identicalto the parent.
Occurs in most plants, bacteria,
protists, and low invertebrates.
Asexual Reproduction

Offspring
are identical
to the parents.

Types of Asexual Reproduction
Asexual Reproduction occurs in many
ways. The common types are,
1.Fission
2.Budding
3.Regeneration
4.Parthenogenesis
5.Cloning
6.Twins
Asexual Reproduction
Types of Asexual Reproduction
BinaryFission–the simplest method of
asexual reproduction in which the parent
body divided into two or more parts & each of
which develop into a new individual.
Example: Amoeba, Plasmodium, Paramecium.
Simple binary
fission in Amoeba

Types of Asexual Reproduction
Budding–organism that produces a bud
that breaksawayto live on its own.
Example: Hydra, Corals.

Types of Asexual Reproduction
Regeneration–occurs when a body
part has broken off and the organism
grows a new one.
Example:Star-fish

Types of Asexual Reproduction
Parthenogenesis–is a form of asexual
reproduction in which females produce eggs that
develop without fertilization. Parthenogenesis is
seen to occur naturally in some invertebrates, along
with several fish, amphibians, and reptiles as well as
in many plants.
It is common in ; Honey-bees , Ants , Wasps.

Types of Asexual Reproduction
Cloning–the modern technology of
biological science in which similar copies
of genetic material are produced.
The organisms which are developed in cloning
are identical.
Example: Twins, Cancer

Twins –are the children which have similar
development & their birth is almost at the same time.
There are two types of twins:
a.Identical Twins–developed from one zygote , after
fertilization it divided into two. Mitosis is involved
b.Fraternal Twins–developed from two diff. zygote.
Each egg is fertilized by separate sperm.
