Uses of Asthalin Inhaler
Asthalin Inhaler (Generic Albuterol Sulfate Inhaler) is used to treat or
prevent bronchospasm in patients with asthma, bronchitis,
emphysema, and other lung diseases. It is also used to prevent
bronchospasm caused by exercise.
Albuterol (also known as Salbutamol) belongs to the family of medicines
known as adrenergic bronchodilators. Adrenergic bronchodilators are
medicines that are breathed in through the mouth to open up the bronchial
tubes (air passages) in the lungs.
Albuterol is used to prevent and treat wheezing and shortness of breath
caused by breathing problems (such as asthma, chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease).
They relieve cough, wheezing, and trouble breathing by increasing the flow of
air through the bronchial tubes.

within five to twenty minutes of dosing, although some relief can
be observed immediately.
The dosage of Asthalin Inhaler (Generic Albuterol Sulfate Inhaler)
for various indications is given below:
For Relief of Acute Episodes of Bronchospasm in Adults :
1 or 2 puffs as necessary. The maximum dose is up to 8 puffs in 24

Warnings

Life-threatening paradoxical bronchospasm may occur. Discontinue
Asthalin Inhaler (Generic Albuterol Sulfate Inhaler) immediately and
institute alternative therapy.
Need for more doses of Asthalin Inhaler than usual may be a sign of
deterioration of asthma and requires reevaluation of treatment.
Asthalin Inhaler is not a substitute for corticosteroids.
Cardiovascular effects may occur. Use with caution in patients sensitive
to sympathomimetic drugs and patients with cardiovascular or
convulsive disorders.
Excessive use may be fatal. Do not exceed recommended dose.
Immediate hypersensitivity reactions may occur. Discontinue Asthalin
Inhaler (Generic Albuterol Sulfate Inhaler) immediately.
Hypokalemia and changes in blood glucose may occur.

Asthalin Inhaler and Alcohol

Alcohol may increase blood pressure and blood sugar. Albuterol
was also reported to have those same side effects. So combining
alcohol with Albuterol (Asthalin Inhaler) could raise your risk of
these side effects. If you drink alcohol, talk with your doctor about
how much may be safe to drink during your Albuterol treatment.

Side Effects
Most common Albuterol Sulfate Inhaler (Asthalin Inhaler) side effects
with an incidence rate of 3% or more are throat irritation, viral
respiratory infections, upper respiratory inflammation, cough, and
musculoskeletal pain.
Side effects reported by less than 3% of the adult and adolescent
subjects receiving Albuterol Sulfate Inhaler (Asthalin Inhaler) and by a
greater proportion of subjects receiving Inhaler than receiving
placebo inhaler and that have the potential to be related to Albuterol
Sulfate Inhaler include diarrhea, laryngitis, oropharyngeal edema,
cough, lung disorders, tachycardia, and extrasystoles.
Palpitations and dizziness have also been observed with Albuterol
Sulfate Inhaler.

Asthalin Inhaler Overdose
The expected signs and symptoms with overdosage of Albuterol
Sulfate Inhaler (Asthalin Inhaler) are those of excessive beta-
adrenergic stimulation and/or occurrence or exaggeration of any of
the signs and symptoms of beta-adrenergic stimulation (e.g., seizures,
angina, hypertension or hypotension, tachycardia with rates up to 200
beats/min, arrhythmias, nervousness, headache, tremor, muscle
cramps, dry mouth, palpitation, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, malaise,
insomnia, hyperglycemia, hypokalemia, metabolic acidosis).
As with all inhaled sympathomimetic medicines, cardiac arrest and
even death may be associated with an overdose of Albuterol Sulfate
Inhaler.

Asthalin Inhaler Overdose
Treatment for overdose consists of discontinuation of Albuterol
Sulfate Inhaler (Asthalin Inhaler) together with appropriate
symptomatic therapy. The judicious use of a cardioselective beta-
receptor blocker may be considered, bearing in mind that such
medication can produce bronchospasm.
There is insufficient evidence to determine if dialysis is beneficial for
overdosage of Albuterol Sulfate Inhaler.

Asthalin Inhaler During Pregnancy
Albuterol Sulfate Inhaler (Asthalin Inhaler) has been classified by
the US FDA as Pregnancy Category C.
Animal studies have demonstrated a teratogenic effect. Albuterol
Inhaler is only recommended for use during pregnancy when
there are no alternatives and if the expected benefit to the mother
is greater than any possible risk to the fetus.
There is little published evidence of the safety of Albuterol in the
early stages of human pregnancy, but in animal studies there was
evidence of some harmful effects on the fetus at very high dose
levels.

Asthalin Inhaler During Nursing
There are no available data on the presence of Albuterol ( Asthalin
Inhaler) in human milk, the effects on the breastfed child, or the effects
on milk production. However, plasma levels of Albuterol after inhaled
therapeutic doses are low in humans, and if present in breast milk,
albuterol has a low oral bioavailability.
As Albuterol is probably secreted in breast milk, its use in nursing
mothers requires careful consideration. The developmental and health
benefits of breastfeeding should be considered along with the mother’s
clinical need for Asthalin Inhaler (Albuterol) and any potential adverse
effects on the breastfed child from Albuterol or from the underlying
maternal condition.
Its use should be restricted to situations where it is felt that the expected
benefit to the mother is likely to outweigh any potential risk to the
neonate.
