One fun thing you did this summer!

We’re a magazine dedicated to the
creative student exploration of the
intersection between the sciences and
humanities.

In undergraduate education, the
sciences and humanities are treated as
disparate fields.

In reality, the sciences directly impact
the human experience, and the
humanities are all about exploring that
experience.

Practice in Rabbit Anatomy
By Natalie Meyer

Up the creek, a waterfall
plunges in uniformity,
digging deep in the pool
below,
swirling in a brilliant vortex.
Wisps of freshwater spray
float
up the bank,
over the brush,

and wander
into a head of hair.
Honeybrown locs twist and
spiral,
fluttering with grace,
flowing just the same.

It wrestles down the channel,
thrashing, beating against its banks.
Then branches,
splitting as it goes.
Lakes to rivers, rivers to streams.

Streams feed the roots
of wise old oaks.
Deep in the soil,
forked from their heavy trunks.

And there sits her heart,
pulsing its velvet blood
through cascading veins,
sputtering, flowing, and finally,
branching just the same.
Microcosm by George Ingebretsen
