Injuries are common in games and sports.Sports injuries can vary widely, from minor strains to serious fractures. It's crucial to seek medical attention to properly diagnose and treat the injury. Rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE) can often help alleviate symptoms in the meantime. Preventing future injuries may involve proper warm-ups, conditioning, and using appropriate protective gear.
In this slide you will get to know different types of sports injuries, their characteristics, cause and treatment .

Sure, here are some common sports injuries:
Sprains and Strains: Overstretching or tearing of ligaments (sprains) or muscles/tendons (strains). Common in activities requiring sudden movements or changes in direction.
Fractures: Broken bones, often from impact or overuse. Stress fractures, caused by repetitive stress, are common in runners and athletes who engage in high-impact sports.
Tendonitis: Inflammation of the tendons, often due to repetitive movements or overuse. Common in activities like tennis, golf, and pitching.
Dislocations: Joint injuries where the bones are forced out of their normal positions. Common in contact sports like football, rugby, and basketball.
Concussions: Brain injuries caused by impact or sudden movement of the head. Common in contact sports like football, hockey, and soccer.
Muscle Cramps: Painful, involuntary contractions of muscles, often due to dehydration or electrolyte imbalances.

Common Sports Injuries
What is Injury An injury is defined as musculo -skeletal complaint newly incurred due to competition and/or training .
Muscles Strains A muscle strain is an injury to a muscle or a tendon — the fibrous tissue that connects muscles to bones . Sometimes called pulled muscles , strains commonly occur in the lower back and in the muscles at the back of the thigh (hamstrings ).
Sprains The difference between a strain and a sprain is that a strain involves an injury to a muscle or to the band of tissue that attaches a muscle to a bone, while a sprain injures the bands of tissue that connect two bones together . Initial treatment includes rest, ice, compression and elevation. Mild strains can be successfully treated at home . Severe strains sometimes require surgical repair . ( Sprains are to ligaments what strains are to muscles and tendons ) Ligaments are the tissues that connect bone to bone
Knee injuries
Fractures
Dislocations It’s sometimes hard to tell the difference between a broken bone and a dislocation. A dislocation happens when the ends of your bones move out of their normal position . These are common in contact sports, such as football, soccer, and basketball. Symptoms include extreme pain, swelling, and not being able to move the area.
Jumper’s knee Jumper’s knee happens when there is an injury (or inflammation) to the tissue that connects your kneecap and thigh muscles your shin bone .
Little League elbow It’s a condition that affects the growth plate of the elbow in adolescents . It is a common injury for baseball players.
Rotator cuff injuries Your rotator cuff is an area inside your shoulder .
Shin splints Your shin is the area at the front of your lower leg , below your knee. Shin splints happen when the muscles and tendons around your shin become inflamed . This injury often impacts runners and basketball players.
First aid (3P’s) 1. Preserve Life. 2. Prevent The Situation Worsening. 3. Promote Recovery.
What and Why???? The definition of First Aid is ‘ the help given to a sick or injured person until full medical treatment is available.’ So , First Aid is provided by the FIRST person who is able to help, and BEFORE professional medical help arrives. Effective emergency treatment before professional help arrives can go a long way to reducing the effects of illness and injury and can indeed save someone’s life .
