Jakarta.  The operator of Indonesia’s first high-speed train has installed a driving simulator carrying the latest technology at Tegalluar Railroad Depot in Bandung, West Java. "All recruits for high-speed train drivers will be trained in this simulator periodically to get them accustomed to high-speed train operation, which is a new technology in Indonesia,” KCIC Corporate Secretary Rahadian Ratry said in a recent statement. “If they are considered qualified and capable, the next training will use the actual EMU (electric multiple units),” he added. The simulator simulates operational conditions, dynamic performance, handling, and traction and braking characteristics of the actual KCICAF400 high-speed train that will serve the route between Bandung and Jakarta. Any trainee will spend 30 minutes inside the simulator per session, the same amount of time the train will take to travel between Jakarta and Bandung. It has a hydraulic system beneath the floor to recreate the movements and vibrations of the actual train during traveling. High-speed train driver candidates are currently being trained at the Indonesian Railway Polytechnic in Madiun , East Java, Rahadian said.
