3. The story Bepin Choudhury’s Lapse of Memory takes you through the journey of a man, named Bepin Babu. He faces a unique problem, let ’ s see what it is. In the year 1958, Bepin had a trip to Ranchi along with his friends. Everyone, except Bepin, recalls about that trip. Do you know why? Because, only this trip got erased from Bepin’s memory. 4. Summary Bepin Babu asked his driver Sitaram to drive by the Ganga “just drive by Ganga ,will you Sitaram” . Bepin Babu regretted having paid any heed to Parimal . Yet the incident haunted his mind. The man knew many things about him. For the first time a slight doubt occurred in his mind. “Was he losing his mind ?” But he remembered well that he was at Kanpur. Suddenly he thought of writing to Haridas Bagchi , his host at Kanpur. Then he remembered that Haridas and his Wife had left for Japan a few weeks before.

5. Bepin Babu rolled up his trousers and took a look at his right knee in slight confusion and yet,t here was a cut-mark there confirming what Parimal Ghosh had said . It was difficult to remember when he had got it. Then he thought of Dinesh Mukerji. Ghosh had said that Dinesh was in Ranchi at that time. He wanted to go to him at once. But what would Dinesh think of him ? After all Bepin Babu knew that he had never been to Ranchi. Dinesh would certainly consider h im a litt le crazy . Thinking,thinking and thinking Bepin Babu went home. he felt much better when he was home. The next day, in the office Bepin Babu decided to call up Dinesh Mukerj i, becacuse it was better to settle the question over the phone, at least the embarrassment on his face wouldn’t show.
