2. BHEL - COMPANY PROFILE Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) owned and founded by the Government of India, is an engineering and manufacturing company. Established in 1964. Head office at New Delhi , India. BHEL is India's largest power plant equipment manufacturer. It has a network of 17 Manufacturing Units in India producing over 180 products offerings to meet the needs of power sectors. Around 65% of the total installed capacity of power plants in the country is met from the equipment supplied by BHEL . BHEL also has been exporting its power and industry segment products and services for over 80 countries across the six continents of the world.

3. BHEL BAP Boiler Auxiliaries Plant (BAP), the 13th manufacturing unit of BHEL was set up at Ranipet in 1980. BAP at Ranipet was set up as a byproduct plant for the manufacture of boiler auxiliaries. The total capacit y of BAP is 57000 tons/year . The main products ESP (Electrostatic Precipitator), APH (Air Pre–Heater), FANS and Dampers & Gates. The unit has also manufactures fuel tanks for ISRO’S GSAT, INSAT 3 and IRS P5 applications. The BHEL BAP is accredited by ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001 and OHSAS 18001. BAP is the first unit of its whole corporation to upgrade to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.

Follows Indirect Marketing Business to Business COMMERCIAL Initiates the process by making contracts with the customers. Plans & Execute the operation by releasing the work orders . Monitoring & Controlling the work .

8. Various Departments of BHEL BAP ENGINEERING Design the each and every products using softwares. Prepare drawings in both 2D & 3D format Prepare Bill o f Material ( BOM ) for every products. OPERATION PLANNING & CONTROL Verify the Product diagrams & BOM. Prepare work schedule based on priority & sequence of operation. Create work order no. for every products.

9. Various Departments of BHEL BAP MATERIAL PLANNING Responsible for availability of material at right time, price, quantity & quality. Prepare Indents (Purchase Requirement Slip). Calculate Purchase Schedule & EOQ. PURCHASE Receive the indents from MPl dept . Send an enquiry to all the verified suppliers. Evaluates the Quotation send by the suppliers. Place the purchase orders.

10. Various Departments of BHEL BAP STORES Maintains the materials in proper condition until they are send to shop floor. Checks Re-order level and Safety stock. Materials are sent to shop floor area PRODUCTION BHEL BAP has 10 production bays. When the work order is released, workmen starts actual production. Shop Engineers guides the workmen using product drawings.

11. Various Departments of BHEL BAP QUALITY BHEL BAP is very much focused on maintaining & improving its product quality. They following QA & QC methods in every stage of production. For quality testing BHEL follows various NDT tests. SHIPPING Transporting the finished goods to the respected sites through Road & Railways. For oversea projects, they use Ship or Airways. BHEL collects 60-65 % of product cost from the customers, when the transportation starts.

Maintains the pay details, transfer details and Department allocation details. Keeps control of records of leave, Increments, promotions . Disciplinary actions such as giving Rewards etc., P rovides the best compensation, housing, medical facility, transportation, canteen to its employees .

18. PROBLEM & SOLUTION PROBLEM The major problem is not following the Safety measures like wearing helmets, gloves, shoes, etc. at the shop floor. Helmets are not provided to the workmen. It is provided only for the senior officers. Suggested Solutions Creating awareness about the safety issues to every employees by conducting awareness program, giving safety instruction pamphlets, etc. Safety Inspectors from HSE department should monitor the shop floor all the time and ensure that all are wearing safety gadgets.

19. CONCLUSION Finally, I found that BHEL considered their employees as most valuable assets and strengths for sustained growth & development. BHEL supports their employees from all the sides and make them happier. In return, the employees work freely and do their job effectively. It gives me an opportunity to learn about various manufacturing functions and different departments .
