3. 1. What are Biodegradable and Non-biodegradable? Biodegradable materials are those which can be degraded. Example- Human and animal excreta, Plant products like rubber Non-biodegradable wastes are waste materials that can not be decomposed Example- Glass, metals, electronic devices, computer parts.

4. 2. What are the consequences of biodegradable on the environment? Biodegradable wastes are not harmful to the environment. However, they act as breeding grounds.

5. 3. What are the consequences of non-biodegradable on the environment? ( i ) They contaminate soil and water resources as they cannot be decomposed by micro-organisms. (ii) These substances, when accidentally eaten by stray animals, can harm them and can even cause their death.
