INTRODUCTION Energy flows directionally through ecosystem but rather than flowing through an ecosystem the matter that makes up organism is conserved and recycled. The recycling of inorganic matter between living organisms and their non-living environment are called Biogeochemical cycles. These elements are used by organisms in a variety of ways. water and oxygen Are found in water and organic molecules both of which are essential to life. carbon are found in all organic molecules whereas nitrogen is an important components of nucleic acids and phospholipids that comprise biological membranes . sulfur is critical to 3-D shape of proteins and the cycling of elements is interconnected.
