Biography of Logan Sugarman

Logan Sugarman is an entrepreneur, investor, and builder best known as the Founder and CEO
of Refresh, an HR technology platform transforming the modern employee experience. With
over two decades of experience across Wall Street, climate technology, and enterprise software,
he has built ventures at the intersection of data, logistics, and human behavior.
Founder & CEO of Refresh: A SuperApp for Frontline and Deskless Workforces

Founded in 2007, Refresh is a customizable, all-in-one SuperApp that connects every tool,
benefit, and communication system used by global workforces, including frontline, deskless, and
hybrid teams. Unlike traditional HR systems, the platform tailors each employee’s experience
according to role, employment type, and geography, ensuring that every worker receives
resources relevant to their needs.

The Problem:

Most large organizations provide hundreds of tools and applications to employees, with HR
departments adding around 4.2 new apps each month. This growing complexity is costly, with
companies incurring over $100 billion in HR and IT hours for management, support, and

training. Employees lose nearly $400 billion in value due to limited personalization, which
reduces usage and engagement. Vendors also miss out on about $50 billion in potential
revenue because employees struggle to access and utilize the available tools.

Under his leadership, Refresh has become a trusted partner for Fortune 500 companies,
leading unions, and national charities. The platform integrates with more than 3,000 HRIS, LMS,
payroll, and benefits systems, while offering built-in modules for wellness, rewards, onboarding,
communications, and feedback. It provides a unified experience that simplifies interaction with
existing systems and improves engagement across the organization.

In 2025, SHRM recognized Refresh as one of three companies (out of over 500) selected for its
Accelerator Program. This acknowledgment highlighted the platform’s innovation and value in
improving workplace wellness and engagement. SHRM also invested in the company, affirming
that its mission aligns with the future of employee well-being and connection.
Refresh has also been honored by Accenture through its Global HR Technology Challenge and
collaborates with major partners, including HUB International and UKG.

Co-Founder, Triangle Digital

Logan is also the co-founder of Triangle Digital, Inc., which advances the transition toward a
climate-resilient economy by linking large-scale data directly with financial assets. The platform
collects and analyzes data from diverse sources, including billing and IoT sensors, to support
sustainability tracking, benchmarking, and analysis.
Triangle was named Innovation of the Year in Carbon Markets for 2025 by Environmental
Finance for its development of stackable Carbon and Co-Benefit Credits (covering Water,
Biodiversity, PFAs, PM, and UN SDGs) as RWAs, which can be sold together or individually.

The company has issued approximately $265 million in carbon credits for Dynamic Carbon
Credits and Water Energy Forward as regulated financial instruments, now eligible for custody
by banks. This work helps transition the market from a “Buy and Retire” approach to a “Buy and
Bank” model.
Triangle also won the Brazil Central Bank Life Data Program for COP30. Its blended finance
strategy introduced a “Carbon Warrant,” combining Carbon and Co-Benefit Credits to help
reduce risks between lenders and borrowers.

Co-Founder, Balcony Partners, LLC

Logan also serves as Co-Founder and CIO of Balcony Partners, an SEC-registered investment
advisory firm with $100 million in assets. The firm focuses on volatility-based quantitative
strategies and private equity-style investments in clean energy, such as residential solar and tax
credit optimization.

He additionally sponsors two Nasdaq-listed SPACs—GSR III and GSR IV. GSR III recently
completed a significant merger in the energy sector with Terra Innovatum, a company
expanding energy access through micro-modular nuclear systems.

Investments & Advisory Roles

Logan is an active early-stage investor with over 100 angel investments in high-growth
ventures, including Scale AI and Liquid Death, as well as in venture funds such as Scribble and
776. He also advises startups such as Diameter, supporting innovation across industries.

Career Foundation: From Technology to Wall Street and Back

Logan began his career at Accenture as a Technology Strategy Consultant, leading projects that
developed data-driven CRM systems for E-Trade. These systems were designed to process
transactions, track account activity, and generate insights for segmentation and profitability.

He later held senior roles at Exis Capital, Kinyan Capital, and Swiss Re, where he worked with a
small team to manage a $1 billion long/short equity portfolio, focusing on financial and
macroeconomic strategies. As Co-Portfolio Manager at Midsummer Capital, he helped lead a
$150 million carve-out fund.
Board Memberships, Philanthropy, and Media

He has long supported Minnesota Public Radio and Johns Hopkins University, his alma mater,
where he endowed a scholarship, chaired the Junior Board (Second Decade Society), and
serves on the Krieger School Advisory Board. He also supports the JCCA and has chaired the
Religious School at his local synagogue, contributing to causes that promote education and
entrepreneurship.

Beyond his professional life, he has owned art galleries in Minneapolis (Gallery 13) and New
York (Lital Mehr Gallery), where he has showcased emerging artists. He also
executive-produced several Lifetime-distributed films, including The Secret Life of a Celebrity,
The Au Pair Nightmare, A Deadly Price for Her Pretty Face, and Escaping Dad.
Education

Logan attended Johns Hopkins University, where he earned dual bachelor’s degrees in
Economics and Psychology, along with a minor in Computer Science. His early education took
place at St. Paul Academy and Summit School, a private college preparatory institution in Saint
Paul, Minnesota.

He has been a CFA Charter Holder since 2004 and established a scholarship to support
entrepreneurship.

On the Personal Side

Originally from Minnesota, he now lives in New York with his wife and daughter. Whether
advancing HR technology or shaping digital climate finance, Logan Sugarman remains
dedicated to creating solutions that scale, empower, and inspire meaningful change.
