Biosphere A biosphere reserve is an ecosystem with plants and animals of unusual scientific and natural intrest.It is a title given by UNESCO to help protect the sites. The is to promote management,research and education in ecosystem conservation. This includes the 'sustainable use of natural resources. Biosphere reserves exchange knowledge and experiences on new ideas for sustainable development. The aim is to get a balanced relationship between mankind and nature.
Functions of biosphere reserves a conservation function - to contribute to the conservation of landscapes, ecosystems, species and genetic variation; a development function - to foster economic and human development which is socio culturally and ecologically sustainable; a logistic function - to provide support for research,monitoring, education and information exchange related to local, national and global issues of conservation and development.
