PREFACE
This Programme of Work, prepared every year for Civil Engineering Division
Council (CEDC), indicates the latest position of published Indian Standards, their
present status and draft standards at different stages under CEDC, as on 1 April
2012. The present scope of CEDC is as follows:
Standardization in field of Civil Engineering including structural engineering,
building materials and components, planning design, construction and maintenance
of civil engineering structures and built environment, construction practices, safety in
building; but excluding those subjects which specifically relate to Water Resources
Development and Management.
The Division Council is working towards achieving the above goal through 35
Sectional Committees covering wide range of subjects for basic building materials
and design construction to very high technical areas like Offshore Installations, Ports
and Harbours, Cyclone Resistant Structures etc.
Standards, drafts and special publications (Handbooks) are listed under
respective Sectional Committees, a list of which is given in the Table of Contents to
serve as a key for easy location. Under each committee the corresponding Technical
Committee (TC) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), if any, is
also listed with the status of membership. The letter `P after the TC member
indicates the India is `Participating member and letter `O indicates `Observer
member status.
