SEMINOR REPORT ON BLUE BRAIN
CONTENTS: INTRODUCTION HISTORY WHAT IS BLUE BRAIN FUNCTIONS ARCHITECTURE ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES APPLICATIO NS CONCLUSION
INTRODUCTION: The Blue Brain project main goal for understanding of human brain and better and faster development for brain disease treatment The project was founded in may 2005 by henrymarkram at the EPFL in lausanne , switzerland
HISTORY: The project was started by henry markran in may 2005 at lausanne, switzerland In August 2012 IBM and michael hines NEURON,together develope custom-built component A full human brain simulation (86 billion neurons) should be possible by 2023 provided sufficient funding is received.
WHAT IS BLUE BRAIN: The IBM is now developing a virtual brain known as the Blue brain. It would be the world’s first virtual Brain It can think like brain, take decisions based on the past experience, and respond as a natural brain. It is possible by using a super computer
FUNCTIONING OF HUMAN BRAIN: The following are the functions of human brain Sensory input Integration Motor output
DATA STORING:
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NATURAL VS SIMULATION BRAIN: Input Through the natural neurons input through the silicon chip or artificial neurons interpretation by different states of the neurons in the brain Interpretation by a set of bits in the set of register Output Through the natural neurons Output Through silicon chip Processing Through arithmetic and natural calculations. Processing Through arithmetic and natural calculations and artificial intelligence. Memory Through permanent state of neurons Memory Through secondary memory
RTN Neuron:
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIRMENTS A Super Computer Memory with a very large storing capacity Processor with a very high processing power A very wide network The code are written in C-language and LINUX
SUPER COMPUTER:
ADVANTAGES: M aking decision the presence of a person Using intelligence of a person after the death Understanding the activities of animals
DISADVANTAGES: We become dependent upon the computer Others may use technical knowledge against us A very costly procedure of regaining the memory back
APPLICATIONS: 1. Gathering and Testing 100 Years of Data. 2. Cracking the Neural Code 3. Understanding Neocortical Information Processing 4. A Novel Tool for Drug Discovery for Brain Disorders 5. A Global Facility
CONCLUSION: We will be able to transfer ourselves into computers at some point . It will bring both benefits and harm to human society Eventually aim of applying terrific computer power to the simulation of an entire brain
