4. Cont . . . . Every women after menopause : - There is a decrea se in oestro gens and along with this if there is any small lump is pres ent then they may turn into tumour . So fix a day in every month for BSE Family hist ory : - If there is a family hist ory of BRCA then they shou ld per form BSE every month in a fixed day

8. S T E P - 1 L o o k i n g in mirror : - See for symmetry , size , shape See for retracte d / pulled nipples or any part of breast See for thickene d / dimpled skin See for any obviou s lump

9. S T E P - 2 R a i s i n g both arms : - Keep one hand on back of shoulder . See for symmetr y See for palpable lumps This can be done while you are taking a shower , the soap and water helps in s m o o t h gliding over breast

10. S T E P - 3 Hands on waist : - Using one hand press firm on opposite breast Helps to find retraction and dimpling Squee ze nipples and see for discharge

STEP - 4 Lying down i n l a t e r a l pos i tion : - Lie down in flat bed in side later al positi on Lying in left lateral , stretch left hands and palpate left breast with right palm to see for palpable lumps And vice vers a A firm ridge may be seen at the lower curve of breast while lying down , that is normal

12. S T E P - 5 L y i n g down in supine position : - Lie down in supine position and keep a folded towel below shoulder Palpate around the breast and see for lumps
